If cooking meat in a pot of hot oil sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday night, then let me share a few meat fondue recipes with you.

When most people think of fondue, they come up with an effigy of people sitting around a hot pot with little forks. And they’re ordinarily dunking pieces of French bread or vegetables into a lot of cheese. Another ordinary version of fondue is made with chocolate. You melt the chocolate in the fondue pot and then dip little pieces of fruit or cake into it. But did you recognise that you may also make meat fondue recipes?

The key to meat fondue recipes is the oil. Peanut oil is the best oil to use in your fondue pot for both flavor and safety. Peanut oil has the most eminent flash point of the most mutual cooking oils. That’s good because you want to make fondue, not set the house on fire. It likewise adds a nice subtle flavor to the meat.

Fondue is all with regards to the prep work. No matter what type of meat you choose, whether it’s filet mignon, pork loin or chicken breast, you’re going to want to cut it into bite sized cubes. Do this in advance so that you may relax for the duration of your meal. You might want to prepare a plate of raw meat for each guest and leave it in the refrigerator until dinnertime. Always use caution when handling raw meat.

Heat the oil to 350 degrees in a stainless steel or cast iron fondue pot. Save the ceramic fondue pot for chocolate fondue because it will likely crack when filled with hot oil.

Next you will have to skewer a cube of meat with your fondue fork and tardily lower it into the pot. Let it cook for 1-3 minutes. The precise cooking time depends on the choice of meat and the desired doneness. Start with one cube of meat and see how you like it, then adjust your cooking time. Longer cooking time for well done, less cooking time for rare, etc.

The best share with regards to meat fondue recipes is the dipping sauces. You’ll need to put out at least three dipping sauces for your guests but five is even better. Dipping sauces may likewise be prepared in advance and be sure to give each guest their own bowls. Nothing spoils a fondue meal quicker than someone complaining regarding double dipping.

Here’s galore dipping sauce recipes to get you started.

Bearnaise Sauce

1 tablespoon Shallots (chopped)

1 teaspoon Fresh Parsely (chopped)

1/4 teaspoon Thyme

1/4 teaspoon Tarragon

1/4 cup Dry White Wine

1/4 cup Tarragon Vinegar

3 Egg Yolks

1/2 cup Butter

Salt and Pepper to taste

Add Shallot, Parsley, Seasoning, Wine and Vinegar to a pot

Boil mixture until scaled down by 1/2

Strain liquid and cool

Beat in Egg Yolks and Butter

Mixture will have to be consistency of Mayonnaise

Hollandaise Sauce

4 ounces Butter

2 Egg Yolks

1 teaspoon Lemon Juice

1 teaspoon Water

Salt to taste

Melt Butter – Do not brown

Remove from Heat

Mix rest of ingredients in blender

Spoon out bubbles from butter

Add butter to running blender

Horseradish Sauce

2/3 cup Whipping Cream

1 teaspoon Horseradish (grated)

2 Green Onions (chopped)

Whip the Whipping Cream

Mix in the rest of the ingredients

Chill for at least an hour

There are lots of dissimilar choices and combinings when it comes to making meat fondue recipes. Choosing beef, pork or chicken is only the beginning. There are also galore dissimilar dipping sauces to choose from too. But the best part regarding meat fondue recipes is attempting them all.

Turns out that is not very helpful, it leaves out small pieces of fruit. The cuisine art blender has the blades much higher from the base of the vessel so chunks that fit between the blade and the base don’t get blended or you have to blend for few more minutes to make it a fine paste. I like to blend in the bowl I will serve in, that way I won’t have more dishes. If I put milk or water with the fruit to make sure I don’t have chunks, it gets a little messy.

My review VS Cuisinart SmartChop.
By Kiten
My dad was so impressed with the ease of blending smoothies, soups, and just about anything with my Cuisinart SmartStick hand blender, that when I was moving out of the house, he started to panic. The thought of living life without the convenience of a hand blender scared him so, until I found this Sharper Image gem looking me in the eye one day.
I opened the box and the first thing that I noticed was that the machine itself was a bit heavier than my Cuisinart (minus points) but the Sharper Image blender does have two settings instead of one (plus points.) I tested it out; the quality of the chopping and blending was really quite comparable. The chopping container on my Cuisinart has tiny non-skid pads on the bottom, this one doesn’t (I know, big deal, but a difference nonetheless) though the container on this one seems a bit bigger. The Whisk attachment on this model seems a bit cheaper; not as solidly constructed, but it still works. Lastly, the Cuisinart is attached via snapping the pieces into place then relying on a release button whereas this Sharper Image model has a “twist and click” locking mechanism, which at first I didn’t like, but quickly grew accustomed to.
All in all, this hand mixer is a great value and a powerful kitchen tool.

46 of 49 people found the following review helpful.
It’s about time…
By Steve
KitchenAid finally develped a toaster with the automatic lower and raise features. This was a notable feature on the Sunbeam Toastmaster toaster of the 1950s. I grew up with this toaster and still use it. I purchased another on Ebay for a back up. Anyone who has followed these on Ebay knows how much people value these features. I’ve been amazed that the toaster companies have not caught on sooner and developed a version which KitchenAid finally has. This toaster has some improvements over it’s older predecessor. It has a very nice blue readout of the heating time which is adjustable with the front knobs. It also has wider slots for bagels and English muffins. I made an English muffin last night, and it was perfect. It also has reheat and defrost settings which I have not used yet.
The auto up and down features work well. No more toast jumping out of the toaster. I have read other reviews complaining of the beep informing you of the toast being done. This is no different than my microwave or coffee maker’s beep notification. It is not overly loud or long. Just a nice notification beep.
Like all modern toasters with wider slots, the heating elements are further away from the toast, and I suspect the safety requirements have changed, so it takes longer to toast than with my Sunbeam, but it toasts evenly. Unfornately, longer toasting time means slightly drier toast, but it is still good. I’ve only used mine twice for toast so far. 5 was too dark. I used 4 this morning, which wasn’t bad, but I think I’ll try 3 next time. It may make the toast a little less dry.
KitchenAid should be touting this toaster, but they just now put the 2 slice version on their website. I emailed them (twice) to ask about it, and they said they did not want to compete with their retailers. C’mon KitchenAid, you can advertise and show your wares without offering to sell them on your site. Just offer links to the retailers who have them. With that type marketing strategy, I would recommend buying this toaster before it goes the way of the Sunbeam. In the mean time, way to go KitchenAid.

27 of 29 people found the following review helpful.
How to fix the super loud beep problem on an otherwise excellent toaster
By Brian
It would seem that the perfect toaster has not been invented but this is close… Here’s some stats and info. On a setting of number 2 (1-7) it will take about 2 min 30 seconds to toast your average piece of bread. Setting 4 would be required for an english muffin that would take about 4.5 minutes. The slots easily accommodate the popular 5.25 in. wide bread that is common today. The slots are 5.5 in. by about 1.25 (the slot is wider but that’s the usable dimension).

The heating wires really don’t glow red except if you look at them in the dark. This sort of design is meant to use a lower temperature to get a more even “toasting” vs. the glowing red, quick toasting variety. The idea on this unit is that the entire heating surface becomes warm versus just the wires. The heating wires are flush against their mounting surface. I think this contributes to durability of the heating elements and safety. The unit does a pretty good job of toasting evenly. The bread itself is a factor in this area.

The mechanism that raises and lowers the bread is very smooth and dependable utilizing two low rpm servo motors that quietly move the toast rack up and down on rails. The servo doesn’t spin like a motor so they will last a very long time. The unit appears to be well built and the electronics are well made. There are four circuit boards in the unit. Two with relays, one for each set of slots to control the heating elements, motors and one sounder-beeper. There is also one for the display and one for the controls. There is one IC that supplies the brains. In order to open the unit you would use a regular slotted screwdriver that you’ve cut a notch in the center of to fit the security screws (Dremel tool grinding wheel).

The sounder that makes all that noise is smaller than the radius of a dime and is mounted on one of the vertical relay boards (left) that is mounted in the front of the base closest to the controls. Its hard to see because its below a couple of white connectors.Placing a couple of pieces of black electrical tape over the sounder will reduce its volume significantly. This should be standard practice at the factory based on customer feedback.

If your an electrical wiz you could take the unit apart but there is a simpler way for the handy among you. If you turn the unit over you will see the words “la corriente” on the bottom toward the front. If you were to drill a hole or use a Dremel tool to cut a hole in this area (right through the letters “nte” as a center) you’d be positioning yourself right under the sounder. If cutting just use the minimum depth required to get through the case and the cardboard shield, don’t go deep or you’ll run into trouble. A less than dime size hole would allow you to see the little round black sounder and use something small to place a piece of tape over it. As with all hacking, if you don’t know what you are doing don’t try this and never work on the unit when it is plugged in. I disavow any and all responsibility for this modification. You proceed at your own risk…

I can now enjoy this toaster without the sound of a tractor trailer backing up in my kitchen.

15 of 15 people found the following review helpful.
So Impressed With This Toaster
By J. White
I am so impressed with this toaster! It works better than any toaster I’ve ever owned. We toast things every single day and sometimes multiple times a day. This toaster toasts evenly. I’ve never had toast come out so perfectly.

What I like most about this toaster are the multiple features. I like the automated “push down” and “coming up” feature. There’s no “digging” down and burning your fingers trying to get what you’ve toasted out of the toaster. I love that this toaster doesn’t have any cheap levers to push down (ours always seem to get cracked or break off completely). I love that there are multiple cooking options (defrost, bagel, reheat, etc…). The countdown on the display is very helpful too.

My only complaint is the beeping sound. It’s SO loud! It beeps once when you put the toast in and beeps three times when the toast comes up. I wish there was either a volume setting or a way to shut this feature off all together. This is my own personal issue and in no way reflects the way this toaster functions (obviously).

I use the number 2 setting, but if you like things “crunchier”, go with number 3 as it doesn’t make the toast that much darker, but does crisp it up a bit more. I couldn’t imagine going darker. I’m not sure why there are so many settings to toast on when the lower settings are sufficient enough.

You definitely can’t go wrong with this toaster. It works incredibly well and looks very classy too.

Kothari
This is the third hand blender I have owned, and is by far the most solid, smoothest running and easiest to clean. The brushed chrome construction looks great and is also easier to clean than plastic versions. Handy features like detachable base, included mixing cup and extra long mixer are thoughtful and useful. The motor is smooth and powerful – it is the Audi V8 of the hand blender world. For the quality, brand and power, $30 is an absolute steal.

Scagliola
Well ok, maybe I am not all shook up so much as BLENDED up. I purchased this immersion blender after my older no name brand unit purchased at Wally World died in the middle of blending a pot of hot soup. I like that you can wash the blenders blade assembly in the dishwasher and the stainless steel shaft is not stained like so many of the ALL PLASTIC models. Another thing I love is the power of the unit and the sharpness of the blades; they will reduce a pot of cream of broccoli soup to a smooth consistency in nothing flat.

Oh and when I say broccoli soup folks, I MEAN broccoli soup. I put nearly two bunches of steamed broccoli in my soup and I only chunk it prior to blending with the immersion blender. This blender will puree` the soup to a perfect creamy texture in nothing flat. (Reserve a few pieces of the chunked broccoli to add back to the soup for texture purposes) I have also used it on my potato and asparagus soups with equally great results.

If you are looking for an immersion blender with lots of power and a “NO STAIN” Stainless Steel shaft then IMO, you cannot go wrong with this model from Cusinart.

Happy Blending!

Ciao!

I was a disbeliever, but now that I have this Cuisinart immersion blender, I am a True Believer. It is substantial yet quiet, and it works really, really well. It is easy to clean as the blender piece pops right off. I love that I can just place it into the pot and puree my soup right there! Awesome! Carrot soup, cauliflower soup, sweet potato soup have all fallen under my spell with this magic wand. Recommended.

I truly don’t understand most of these poor reviews. I have already made a two layer cake with home made frosting using this product. I was able to basically kneed the frosting using the hand mixer with ease. I was probably using it for about 10 minutes and my arm felt fine during and after words. The product is very light weight, yet the motor is plenty efficient. Speed 5 is not very fast, but honestly, i probably wouldn’t want it to go any faster. I hear some people having problems with speed 1 being the same as speed 5. Heres the thing, this product is smarter than a 1950′s hand mixer. Instead of burning out the motor because your an idiot using speed 5 with cookie dough, it’ll self protect and stay lower. The instruction manual clearly states which speed to use with which item you are baking. If you go above that, well then you should expect problems. Heres the difference between this, and my hand mixer from 1978. The 1978 hand mixer smells like burning rubber when on, the beaters are not turbo beaters, so they constantly clog (the turbo beaters are great). The 78 HM also is loud and the handle is extremely poorly placed. The kitchen aid hand mixer is much quieter (while not being silent of course), and the handle is specifically made to ease the stress on your arm and wrist.

Kitchenaid has gotten a few poor reviews on this product, but what you really have to realize, is how many thousands others have the product, use it weekly, and never have a problem. Kitchenaid is still the choice of pros, and 10, 15 years down the road, when you either have kids old enough to use one, or maybe you’ll have grand kids, this little pup will still be beating away for you. I hope i was helpful to at least one person, in the long run, i think its the wiser choice.

other notes: If there is any confusion as to if the dough hooks and shake blender are included, yes they are. I havn’t yet used them, but if you look them up, each are around 16-20 dollars a piece, and come free with this product. I’ve also heard the dough hooks are amazing. Baking bread will never be the same.

136 of 140 people found the following review helpful.
Invicta’s overlooked dive watch
By Michael Horn
Purchasing the #8932 Invicta dive watch for a family member Christmas present – I’ve come away very much impressed. The 8932 apparently shares the case, crystal mineral glass watchface, screwdown crown and elegent lightweight stainless steel bracelet with it’s more expensive automatic movement 8926 sibling. Matter of factly – it is hard to tell the difference between this watch and Invicta’s $300+ 9937 Swiss ETA powered automatic diver without close inspection.

It is my humble opinion that Invicta is the leader of the affordable price dive watch market – including such giants as Seiko and Citizen – OK maybe even Casio. Invicta does not have the brand name awareness of the public and large commercial outlets to display their wonderful dive watches. Once you’ve purchased an Invicta Pro-Diver series watch – you will be a fan. The fit, finish, overall quality and design make this watch a model you should consider as a price range leader.

Case: The 316L brushed stainless steel case at 40mm (43mm with crown) once considered a large watch – is now an “average” size for dive watches. The stainless steel watchback might be annoying for those with nickel metal skin allergies – the mineral glass display or “exhibition” watch backs of the 8926 and 9937 being preferred by many divers. Mineral glass is not as scratch resistant as sapphire crystal as found in the 9937 – which can only be imprinted by diamond – but is “good enough” for average wear and certainly keeps the watch very affordable. A date “cyclops” or window is found at the 3 o’clock position. The watch is rated and tested to 200m (660 ft) – that which qualifies it as a “Professional Diver”.

Bezel: The black bezel is a very scratch resistant, uni-directional (120 clicks to the hour) scalloped edge (like the Omega Seamaster) diving tool. A “coin edge” (like the Rolex Submariner) bezel is preferred by many divers – being less slippery to manipulate when wet.

Bracelet: Invicta’s ss bracelet – with polished center links – is an industry standard – best compared to a Rolex Oyster bracelet for the Submariner series. It utilizes a foldover deployment clasp without a wetsuit deployment clasp as found on more expensive dive watch bracelets. Held together by pins – it is important to throughly rinse the bracelet after immersion in salt water.

Movement: The 8932 uses a quartz “asian” sourced movement. These will normally keep time +/- 15 second per week and are actually much more accurate than the more expensive Invicta 8926 Citizen/Miyota 8215 – 21 jewel automatic movements that can be a minute or more off each week. The 9937 uses a Swiss ETA 2824-2 25 jewel automatic movement reflected in it’s $300+ price tag…Watch battery life varies as per movement source and battery quality. Most batteries should last 3-5 years according to Invicta users I know.

Conclusion: I am a big fan of Invicta dive watches. For the money, Invicta Pro-Diver series watches are an industry leader. Sourced among many different asian assemblers – the fit, finish and quality may vary somewhat from batch to batch – but the overall reputation among watch collectors of the Invicta Pro-Diver series is very high!

Why not 5 stars? My personal preferences are automatic movement watches – not quartz. The stainless steel back can irritate the skin of allergic individuals. Mineral glass crystal – used to hold the price – is prone to scuffing and minor scratching. Sapphire is too expensive for this category of watch. As a diver – I prefer a “sawtooth” or “coin” edged bezel to the scalloped bezel currently offered by Invicta. The bracelet offers no wetsuit deployment clasp – a feature absent in all Invicta divers thru the 9937 series. Some or none of these should prevent you from considering this watch or it’s 8926 fraternal twin as your next dive watch.

Amazon and it’s sellers do a good job to deliver the Invicta goods. All models come with a one year warranty – Invicta offering a 5 year warranty extension for a modest fee. I am the owner of 7 Invicta dive and chronometer watches. You can learn more about Invicta and other affordable watches sold by Amazon at InvictaTalk.com.

I bought this watch and the 8926 automatic thinking they were the same size (43mm with crown). Not so, this watch is quite a bit smaller on the wrist, not as heavy(no automatic movement), and the unidirectional bezel is much more loose and cheap feeling.

The model # on the back of this watch is 8932A

The 8926 is a MUCH nicer watch and has been on sale for 70 at various times.

Ellmauer
I recieved this watch yesterday and I was very excited. This was not my first Invicta, I’ve been very impressed with their watches. After I got it home, I put a rubber band on it and then started setting the time. I first noticed that the bezel is very difficult to turn. I thought if I kept working it, it would loosen up. It hasn’t so far. Next I noticed that the time keeps stopping periodically. I know it’s a quartz, but even early on I expected the watch to keep running in the beginning. Then I look at the warranty card. I admit this is the first time I’ve had to, and I notice that Invicta wants a $25 check for return shipping. They send me a defective watch and they want money to essentially fix it. I don’t think so…..I’m used to very quality from Invicta, so I am very disappointed in this watch.

The frame of the toaster is solid and has a little weight to it, and you are able to push the two control buttons with out holding the toaster still, as I have had to do with other brands. The toasting lever has a quality motion to it, and operates very smoothly. Toast, bagels, and english muffins come out very consistently and evenly toasted, I suspect in part due to the steel lining of the deeper toasting cavity. The power cord is heavy gauge as well, complete with a 3 prong (grounded) plug. And as opposed to simply adding more time to the cycle, as other “bagel” buttons tend to do, this actually reduces power to the heating element on the uncut side of the bagel, thus it doesn’t become too well done. The bottom of the toaster has 4 rubber padded “feet” so it sits securely in place, and the toaster has an overall classic but updated design. To top it all off, the toaster has totally cool sapphire blue LED’s to indicate functions, desired shade, and time to complete the toasting cycle. Good Job Kitchen Aid!

The exterior metal does get hot after a bit, but the “extra lift” feature helps you avoid contact. The toaster does seem to go from underdone to burnt pretty quickly, so until you calibrate the timing for your preferred treat, you may want to hover and make a few spot checks. The evenness in toasting is impressive.

It is easy to clean as the blender piece pops right off. I love that I can just place it into the pot and puree my soup right there! Awesome! Carrot soup, cauliflower soup, sweet potato soup have all fallen under my spell with this magic wand. Recommended.

He gifted me on Christmas with the KitchenAid 5 Qt. Artisan in white. I love this mixer and leave it out on my counter, something I never did with the Mixmaster. I recently purchased the citrus juicer attachment from Amazon and am very pleased with it as well. I have not read all 109 previous reviews on this site, but I have read a few that were disgruntled because their Artisans did not mix well. I initially had the same problem with the beater/bowl clearance. It is very simple to remedy. There is a beater adjustment screw on the mixer and the manual describes how to make the adjustments. I got even better instructions by calling customer support at KitchenAid. The technician told me to drop a dime into the empty bowl, turn the mixer on (about setting 2) using the flat beater, and it should move the dime 1/4″ to 1/2″ each time it rotates around the bowl. This is the right clearance for the beater to mix everything at the bottom of the bowl, but not low enough to cause wear on the beater from constant friction with the bottom of the bowl during usage. I tweaked the screw setting 1/4 turn each time until I got that dime moving. At this setting, I can now beat a single egg white to stiff peaks in the 5 qt. bowl. That’s impressive.
This mixer is as sturdy as a tank, and you can hear the quality as it mixes. Although I had previously purchased a KitchenAid mixer for my daughter as a gift, I would never have splurged on one for myself. I am so happy my husband thought I was worth it!

I have friends who’ve had KitchenAid mixers for years and they’ve always raved about their quality and durability. Well, I finally went for it and I have absolutely no regrets. You want to talk about a solid piece of kitchen machinery? This is the epitome of what “Made in America” used to mean! Unlike all the cheapo mixers out there, I’m completely confident that this thing will even outlast ME! The only problem is now I’m wondering why I waited so long!

—–> This may help some of you – I read a review somewhere in which the reviewer gave this mixer a poor rating because it left dry ingredients in the bottom of the bowl – read the instruction booklet, people. It clearly states that if this occurs (or if the attachments scrape the bowl), there is an adjustment screw that raises or lowers the mixing assembly. I had to slightly lower mine and it now incorporates everything into the mix. The KitchenAid mixers are well worth the money….or you can keep buying junk mixers every couple years…the choice is yours.

Love, Love, Love it! A+A+A+A+
By Mrs. Romano
This KitchenAid mixer is an excellent investment! I just love mine! The dough hook attachment is the greatest invention ever. No more kneading! I used this wonderful machine to make 4 pounds of Pizza Geina dough without breaking a sweat. Add your ingredients, turn it on and it does the rest! It has a very powerful motor and every part of this mixer is excellent quality and well made. It is simple to lock in the mixing bowl and it is also a breeze to clean. The different attachments are very easy to attach and remove. It would be impossible not to love it! Did I mention how easy the clean up is? I love it so much I bought the KitchenAid quilted cover for it. Once you use this mixer you will never want to use anything else! The Best!!!

Johnson
I found this steamer in a store once and have never seen it since. I wrote to the company and they told me that they suppy Amazon, so I looked it up and there it was! The steamer is great – I ordered two – and so much better than similiar kinds with the little ring that always seems to disappear into the vegetables when you’re trying to get them out. Plus, the leaves don’t seem to fall out. I use my Progressive Easy Reach steamer several times a week and highly recommend it to anyone who likes to steam vegetables in a pan.

This one far surpasses them all. The feet are a bit longer and so the vegetables really steam. The stem in the center extends when you need it to so you don’t get burned lifting the steamed food out of the pot, then retracts so that it fits easily into the dishwasher. This steamer fits in a double boiler or larger pot. I love it! No corners were cut in it’s construction.

The legs on it are much longer than usual, so you can put a fair amount of liquid in and not worry about it either drowning your veggies or boiling away before you get back. The telescoping handle is also a great feature.
A basic, simple cooking utensil made smarter.

ReviewThis attachment turns your KitchenAid stand mixer into a citrus juicer, eliminating the need for a second appliance that would take up valuable kitchen storage and counter space. Its four parts–heavy-duty aluminum shaft, reamer, shield, and strainer–are easy to assemble and attach to the stand mixer’s powerful motor. Turn the mixer speed to level 6, and the reamer maintains a fast and steady spin. Press your fruit halves versus it, and the juice pours out. You do have to exert a bit of pressure to extract all of the juice, but it’s surely not difficult to use. The strainer basket holds back the pulp and seeds as the juice flows into your pitcher. –Betsy Danheim

Drouillard
I really like this attachment and use it frequently. That said, I have some suggestions:

For users-

1. Use the KitchenAid mixing bowl to catch the juice, and place a large standard kitchen strainer across the bowl. This speeds things up a lot!

2. Rub some shortening on the aluminum shaft before inserting it into the brass sleeve. If you use your juicer a lot, this will greatly prolong its life.

For KitchenAid-

1. The plastic piece that inserts into the mixer should be made out of metal, instead of plastic with a metal sleve. On mine the plastic is cracking away from the brass.

2. The aluminum shaft should be brass or steel. As it is, the bearing surface is a small area of aluminum that even when lubricated, is showing lots of wear.

This juicer attachment makes juicing them much faster. Then we freeze most of the juice and thaw it in the fridge for 24 hours before we drink it. It would be hard to go back to regular juice. We also have a dedicated juicer for carrots, apples and pears, but it isn’t good for citrus. We store the juice in mason jars in the freezer.

Notes:

1. As in an earlier review, use the mixer bowl with a large strainer place across it instead of the strainer attachment which is pretty useless.

2. You don’t need to seed the grapefruit using the big strainer.

3. Hold the fruit so that your hand is at the top (fingers facing upwards) and brace the top of the mixer with your other hand. This way the juice does not run down your arm.

It is small, easy to lose, ineffective, etc.

Otherwise this is a marvelous attachment for juicing all kinds of citrus fruits.

A note on technique. Many people attempt to juice fruit by simply pressing forward. This will miss a lot of juice. It is necessary after pressing forward to give a little squeeze so the sides get all juiced as well. Also, you will get less messy if you hold the fruit half by the top instead of the bottom, as the bottom is where the juice tends to come out.

A note on lemonade. The key is to mix the water and sugar together and boil them. This makes the sugar a super saturated solution instead of a suspension. The sugar doesn’t settle. Add the lemon juice once the sugar solution (also called simple syrup) is cooled in the fridge.
